A weekend of watches with Zenith

As the sun starts to shine, weekends will be for stylish outings and spending time with loved ones. As a well-dressed gentleman your timepiece should not only match your suit, but also suit every occasion.

I had the benefit recently of learning more about Zenith’s watches, who have been bringing style and substance to the wrists of sartorially minded men and women for over 150 years.

And thanks to their new timepieces revealed during Baselworld 2016, there’s a watch for wherever the week, and weekend, takes you.

FRIDAY

It’s Friday evening: Time to relax and enjoy the start of the weekend with a drink and your Academy Georges Favre-Jacot Tourbillon at the city’s most exclusive bar.

Issued in a 150-piece limited edition featuring a 45 mm diameter black ceramic case, this uniquely avant-garde model timepiece fully reveals the contemporary architecture of its high-frequency heart. Its powerful design and innovative materials reveal the El Primero Calibre 4805 which combines two of the Manufacture’s iconic complications: a tourbillon and a fusée and chain transmission system.

SATURDAY MORNING

Start off your Saturday morning with a freshly brewed coffee and get on your BSA Goldstar Clubman with the Heritage Pilot on your wrist for a smooth ride in the sun.

This vintage timepiece pays tribute to the “Café Racer” biker culture born in the 1950s, which removed any superfluous elements of a standard two-wheeler to transform it into a unique-looking speed machine. Its powerful El Primero engine, artfully aged steel case, beige-tinted slate grey dial and oily nubuck strap create the perfect embodiment of this authentic spirit with a marked penchant for freedom.

SATURDAY EVENING

After having spent the day cruising, it’s time to rock the night away in style with the exceptional Academy Christophe Colomb Tribute to the Rolling Stones.

To mark the Rolling Stone’s milestone performance in Cuba on March 25th, Zenith unveiled a set of only five timepieces dedicated to the partnership with the British band. Representing a compendium of technical and artisanal brilliance, watchmaking prowess meets artistic craftsmanship in a prestigious model featuring a patented Gravity Control gyroscopic module and a high frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour.

SUNDAY

Following yesterday’s party, it’s now time to spend some quality moments with your loved one over a delicious lunch, followed by a drive for two in a powerful 1959 Bentley with the El Primero Classic Car adorning your wrist.

The new El Primero 36’000 VpH Classic Cars brings all the power and distinction of classic cars to elegant wrists. With its legendary engine, sleek bodywork and inimitable counters, this timepiece epitomises Zenith’s involvement in this world of sophistication and sport. At the heart of its brushed steel case hums a high-precision mechanism: the legendary El Primero chronograph. Framed by a tachymeter scale, the new El Primero 36’000 VpH Classic Cars ‘engine-finished’ dial bears the three iconic colours synonymous with this speed machine radiating an aura of ageless class.

MONDAY

As Monday morning starts you can take your Elite 6150, ready to face the week in style.

Having gained immediate success right from its launch in 2015, the Elite 6150 model now comes clothed in rose gold, illuminating its curved 42 mm-diameter case, its pure dial with engraved hour-markers and its slender leaf-type hands.

Zenith’s watches show a true passion for vintage style, mechanical beauty and timeless craftsmanship.
